The wedding cake is more than a dessert – it is the sweet highlight of the day and one of the moments everyone remembers: the two of you cutting the first slice together. But how do you choose the right cake? At Pastry By Pagliuca in central Copenhagen we help couples with exactly that decision every year, and here you get our best advice – from size and flavour to decoration and delivery.
📅 Start with the practical part: date and number of guests
Before you even start talking flavour and decoration, two things need to be in place: when is the wedding, and how many guests will be having cake? The number of guests determines the size of the cake – and the date determines your ordering deadline. With us, wedding cakes must be ordered at least 7 days in advance, but our best advice is to order well ahead of time, so we can talk through the details together while things are still calm.
🎂 One, two or three tiers?
The tiers are the first big decision – and they are about both guest count and style:
- One tier – simple and elegant, perfect for the smaller wedding
- Two tiers – the classic wedding cake with height and wow factor
- Three tiers – the grand, festive statement for the big celebration
Our wedding cakes range from DKK 199 to 350 per person depending on tiers and decoration. If you are planning a smaller or more informal wedding, one of our custom cakes at DKK 129 per person (from 10 people) can also be a beautiful choice – for example a classic Danish layer cake with a personal message on top.
🍓 The flavour – choose with your heart (and your guests)
The most beautiful cake also has to taste amazing. Our pastry chefs combine Danish cake tradition with Italian pastry craftsmanship, and we compose the flavour to your wishes – from the classic and creamy to the fresh and fruity. Think about what you love yourselves, but also about your guests: a well-balanced cake that is not too heavy after a big wedding dinner is almost always the safe choice. If you are in doubt, we are happy to guide you.
🌸 The decoration: fresh flowers or figurines?
The decoration is the cake’s personality, and here most couples choose between two classics:
- Fresh flowers – romantic and timeless; often matched to the bouquet or the table setting
- Figurines on top – the classic, personal touch with a twinkle in the eye
Both options can be selected directly when you order in the shop – and if you have ideas of your own, just write to us and we will figure it out together.
🚗 Pickup or delivery?
You can always pick up the cake free of charge at our shop at Løngangstræde 19 in central Copenhagen – many couples send a friend or the toastmaster by in the morning. If you would rather have the cake brought to you, we deliver in Greater Copenhagen for DKK 750, so the cake stands ready and perfect at the venue without you having to think about the transport.
