☕ From Rwanda to Copenhagen – the coffee behind Pastry By Pagliuca

At Pastry By Pagliuca, it’s not only about taste – it’s also about history, people and responsibility. That’s why we’ve chosen a coffee that makes a difference.

Our coffee blend comes from Rwanda – from the project Women Coffee Extension Organic, where female coffee farmers are given the chance to build a new future after the tragic events of the 1990s.

🌍 A coffee with roots in Rwanda

Our coffee is carefully curated – not only for its taste, but for the story that comes with every single bean. It originates from Rwanda, where coffee growing has played a central role in the country’s rebuilding since the 1990s.

After the genocide in 1994, many local communities – not least women – were left with the responsibility of rebuilding both families and the economy. Here, coffee became a crucial driving force. Through international initiatives and local partnerships, coffee cooperatives emerged, where women in particular were given the chance to create stability, dignity and new communities.

The coffee we have selected springs directly from these initiatives, where the focus is on organic farming, uncompromising quality and social responsibility. Women play a central role throughout the entire process – from cultivation to processing – and their work helps ensure both exceptional quality and better living conditions.

The coffee can also be bought to take home in the shop, where it’s offered in one-kilo bags – so the experience can be extended, while you support a production with both depth and meaning.

💚 Coffee with a greater meaning

Women Coffee Extension (WCE) brings together female coffee farmers and gives them:

  • Training across the entire coffee value chain
  • The opportunity for financial independence
  • Access to projects such as clean water and life insurance

Many of the women are widows or survivors of the 1994 genocide and have been left alone with the responsibility for their families.

By choosing this coffee, we help support social development, sustainable farming and real improvements in local communities.
